13/02/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Free and Fair Post Initiative (FFPI) has warmly welcomed proposals from Postcomm, the British postal services regulator, to open up the British market for ordinary postal services, in April 2002 and for the entire postal network by 31 March 2006. Phillipe Bodson, FFPI President, declared that by fixing a date for the liberalisation of the postal sector, Postcomm would be providing a clear legal framework that would allow competitors of Consignia (the new name of the post office - Editor's note) to invest in the sector. Mr Bodson hopes that this initiative will provide a new boost to the liberalisation process in the EU postal service.
