Brussels, 25/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - The five new members of the Court of Auditors will make a solemn commitment before the Court of Justice next Wednesday, in Luxembourg (at 18h00). They were appointed by a decision of the EU Council of Ministers (on 8 November 2001) after consultation of the European Parliament. The five new members of the Court are: Lars Tobisson (Sweden), Swedish MP from 1979 to 2001 (Riksdagen), appointed to the Court for four years (1 January 2002 - 28 February 2006); Hedda von Wedel (Germany) appointed for six years (1 January 2002 - 31 December 2007), was President of the German Federal Court of Auditors (Bundesrechnungshof) from 1993 to 2001 and member of the Bundestag between 1990 and 1993; - David Bostock (Britain), appointed for six years (1 January 2002 - 31 December 2007), was Head of the European Secretariat for the Cabinet Office from 1999 to 2000, UK Deputy Permanent Representative to the EU from 1995 to 1998 and Chairman of COREPER II during the UK Presidency in 1998; - Morten Louis Levysohn (Denmark) appointed for four years (1 January 2002 - 28 February 2006), held several senior posts in the Danish Court of Auditors (Rigsrevisionen) including those of Deputy Auditor General (1999-2001), Assistant Auditor General (1995-1999) and Director and member of the Executive Group (1985-1995); and Ioannis Sarmas (Greece) appointed to the Court for six years (1 January 2002 - 31 December 2007) after having worked in the Council of State form 1987 to 1993 and in the Greek Court of Auditors from 1993 to 2001.
