Parliament elects its fourteen vice-presidents

Strasbourg, 16/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament has elected its fourteen vice-presidents. They are: David Martin, British Labour member, who is the first Vice-President with 300 votes, followed by Giorgios Dimitrakopulos, Pasok, Greece (240); Charlotte Cedershiöld, Swedish Social Democrat (230); Renzo Imbeni, Democratici di sinistra, Italy (226); Alejo Vidal-Quadras, Partido popular, Spain (215); Guido Podestà, Forza Italia (203); Ingo Friedrich, CSU Germany (200); Cathérine Lalumière, Parti radical de gauche, France (191); Gerhard Schmid, SPD Germany (181); Joan Colom I Naval, the Catalan Socialist Party (158); José Pacheco Pereira, Partido Socialdemocrata, Portugal (164); James Provan, British Conservative (162); Gérard Onesta, Greens, France (148); and Juan Puerta, Izquierda Unida, Spain (123).
