Brussels, 20/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - Algeria and the European Union initialled, on 19 December, the text of the association agreement after four years of negotiations. Algerian President Bouteflika as well as President Prodi took part at the ceremony that should be followed towards the end of the first quarter of 2002 by formal signature of the agreement.
