18/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Parliament adopted the report by Carlos Lage (PES, Portugal) approving the new fisheries protocol between the European Community and the Cape Verde Republic for the period 1/07/01 and 30/6/04. The new protocol provides for fishing possibilities for 37 tuna seiners, 18 pole and line vessels, 62 surface longliners and 630 gross registered tonnage (GRT) per month as an annual average for bottom longliners.
