BT and AT&T given all-clear to buy back their Concert assets

Brussels, 18/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission had cleared British Telecommunications Plc and AT&T to by back-the assets they had contributed to Concert. This Dutch company was created in parties in 200to provide global telecommunications services to multinational business customers. On 14 November BT and AT&T both informed the Commission that they wished to terminate the joint venture and recoup the asset they had contributed to it. The commission judged that this did not breach any rules on competition as the position of the companies on the European telecommunication market, particularly in the Netherlands and Britain would not fundamentally change. The result of the acquisition will not have an excessive impact on Concert customers.
