Brussels, 11/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - Last week, the Commission approved Leader+ rural development for two regions of Italy, Lazio and Tuscany, that are part-funded from the Structural Funds.
Lazio: The Commission will provide EUR 13.55 million of the total package (EUR 51.5 million) for the period 2001-2006 which will be focussed on various priority areas: improving services for the rural population, sustainable development and the environment, promoting local culture and tourism and encouraging co-operation between rural communities.
Tuscany. The Commission will provide EUR 13.34 million of the total package (EUR 60.11 million) for the period 2001/2006, which will be focussed on various targets: developing innovative methods for improving the quality and competitiveness of products and services; making the most of local products; improving the quality of life for rural inhabitants; helping to create jobs, particularly for women and young people; and making the most of the area's natural and cultural heritage.
