28/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - Bertel Haarder, a member of the European Parliament's Liberal group, will be the Minister in charge of European Affairs, refugees and immigration, in President Anders Fogh Rasmussen's new government in Denmark. The coalition government of Liberals and Conservatives is counting on getting votes from the very xenophobic Danish People's Party. Daniel Ducarme, MEP, and President of the Belgian Reform Party has expressed his concern at information received on the xenophobic character that threatened the government's programme. He has written to Werner Hoyer, President of the European liberal Party (ELDR) asking him to organise an emergency Council meeting of the party.
