28/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing a loan of EUR 129 million to Greece to build transport infrastructure for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and Peloponissos. EUR 100 million will go towards building two new tram lines (22.7 km long) in Athens - the T1 linking Athens centre (Zappio) with the south coast of Athens (Neo Faliro) and T2 linking Neo Faliro with the southern suburb of Glyfada.
