Strasbourg, 15/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Afghan Foreign Minster Abdullah Abdullah assured the President of the European Parliament, Nicole Fontaine, over the phone on Wednesday that the situation was "under control in Kabul" and that there would not be "any feelings of revenge". He added that they were consulting with all the Afghan groups at home and overseas and were "waiting in Kabul for the UN to be able to start work". He asserted that an interim government had to be formed from all Afghan groups and that they were negotiating with King Zaher and the Pashtun. Replying to a question from Ms Fontaine on women's role in the future government of Afghanistan, the Minister said that that should be possible "even if it is not easy at first because women had suffered so much and had to get involved in all walks of life in the country". When asked about the fate of Bin Laden and Mullah Omar, Mr Abdullah said they would have to stand trial in Afghanistan or The Hague because they had committed crimes against humanity.
