EuroCommerce launched Euro-Logo quality label to raise confidence in e-commerce

Brussels, 14/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - EuroCommerce, the European association representing retail, wholesale and international trade , launched a European trustmark (quality label) on Thursday based on a European Code of Conduct for online commercial relations. The label, Euro-Logo, has been drafted in line with current and anticipated future legislation, namely the EU directives on e-commerce, distance selling, data protection and guarantees. Through its payment verification procedure and automatic search for sites claiming to use the logo, the Euro-Logo will guarantee that the quality label is not improperly used by traders and will therefore create trust and give security to customers that what they buy online corresponds to the description and quality of the goods they were offered. Euro-Logo also provides a customer complaint system based on a standardised compliant form developed in 1999 by the European Commission. If the complaint is not resolved, an out-of-court settlement procedure for cross-border transactions will be launched.
