International Energy Agency adopts contingency plan in case supplies are disrupted

Brussels, 08/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - In anticipation of military action after the attacks on 11 September, the members of the International Energy Agency (IEA) adopted, last Tuesday, an emergency contingency response plan on oil to counter any disruption of supplies. The plan provides for IEA member states to be able to put additional quantities of oil on the market if supplies are disrupted or if there is a widespread belief that serious risk of supply disruption is imminent.
