Brussels, 02/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - On 27 September, the EU Council of Ministers endorsed the Commission's signing of a Co-operation Agreement between the European Atomic Energy Community (EURATOM) and Kazakhstan in the domain of controlled nuclear fusion. The agreement aims to maintain and intensify co-operation in the areas covered by both sides' fusion programmes in order to improve scientific understanding and the technological possibilities of an energy fusion system. Under the agreement, co-operation will focus on research, fusion technology, applied plasma physics and policy in terms of plans and programmes. It can take the form of exchange and supply of information, the exchange and supply of staff, meetings, the exchange and supply of samples, instruments and devices for experimental ends and the assessment of and participation in joint research and other activities.
