Brussels, 01/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - France and Germany pleaded in favour of the creation of an exemption rule for State aid linked to services of a general interest, at the meeting of the Internal Market Council last week. The Council was for the first time formally taking up the issue of services of a general interest since the adoption of the declaration on the subject at the Nice Summit of December 2000.
