28/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - The President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, has written to the President of the Republic of Korea, Kim Dae Jung, to congratulate him on winning the World Statesman Award. Mr Prodi told him the EU attaches "great importance to your personal efforts to promote peace and reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula". He also expressed the hope that Mr Kim Dae Jung would be able to visit Brussels early December, a possibility already being considered.
