Brussels, 28/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - The sixth round of negotiations over a Free Trade and Association Agreement between the EU and Chile will take place in Brussels on 1/3 October, headed by the Director General of External Relations, Guy Legras, on the European side, and the Deputy Secretary of State Heraldo Muñoz, on the Chilean side. At this negotiation meeting (ahead of the meeting in Santiago on 10 December from which much more progress is expected), the negotiators are expected to discuss the question of public contracts for goods and services, while the EU side also hopes to touch on financial services. The main stumbling block in the negotiations so far is fishing, since under pressure from Spain, the EU wants access to Chilean fishing grounds.
