Italy's MONTEDISON has entered "exclusive negotiations" with the US company CARGILL with a view to selling its approximately 56% holding in CERESTAR, Europe's leading starch and derivatives company, which has a turnover of EUR 1.7 bn and a workforce of 3000. Negotiations are at a preliminary stage and appear to signal that the group will concentrate on its energy business.
