10/08/2001 (Agence Europe) - Wednesday, the Standing Veterinary Committee (SVC) decided to reduce a little the number of Spanish provinces that are no longer allowed to export live pigs (or the semen, ova and embryos of these animals) since the outbreak of several cases of classical swine fever. The restrictions in the autonomous region of Cataluna will now only apply in part of the province of Lerida and no longer the whole of the province, as well as certain farms in Barcelona and Tarragona. The export ban does, however, remain in force in Valencia, Cuenca and Teruel. These measures are to be implemented until 15 September. The next meeting of the SVC is scheduled for September 11 and 12.
