Brussels, 09/08/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to grant humanitarian aid: 1) to the Palestinian Territories (5 million euro), essentially for food distribution programmes; 2) Cambodia (4.2 million), to help supply clean water, for health care and to help refugees returning to the country; 3 ) Indonesia (2.2 million), for medical centres and supplies, as well as drinking water schemes in West Timor and the Northern Moluccas, and for nutrition in West Timor; 4) Burma/Myanmar (2 million), to increase access to drinking water and to improve treatment of used water; 5) Burkina Faso and Chad (1.6 million), for a mass vaccination campaign against meningitis; 6) Inner Mongolia, in China (1.2 million) for food aid, health care, and the reconstruction of four schools. This aid will, as always, be managed by the European Humanitarian Aid Office, Echo.
