ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) metals

The Belgian non-ferrous company UM UNION MINIERE (3.8 bn euro turnover in 2000 with 8,000 employees) has taken a 60% stake in the French firm VERTEX, specialised in the manufacture of precision optical lenses, thereby strengthening its ELECTRO-OPTIC MATERIALS branch. The acquisition of all VERTEX's capital as well as planned investments represent close to 3 million euro.
