Brussels, 18/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - Tuesday, the second meeting of the five people Guy Verhofstadt, President-in-Office of the European Council, turned to to ask for assistance in preparing the "Laeken Declaration", was devoted to relations between the EU and its citizens. The Belgian Prime Minister qualified as "huge gap" the distance currently separating public opinion from Community institutions and their activities, and gave great importance to initiatives to take to fill this gap.
