Franco-German group AVENTIS opens exclusive negotiations with German group BAYER with view to selling it 100% of CROP SCIENCE, the agrochemicals group that it controls at 76%. German pharmaceuticals company SCHERING holds the remaining 24%. Analysts estimate the acquisition price as being between EUR 6 and 8 billion.
