05/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - "Development of new advertising techniques": This was the theme of a seminar organised by the European Commission on 4 July in Brussels, during which the law firms Bird & Bird and Carat Crystal announced a study into the Television without frontiers directive. Ordered by the European Commission, this study has as aim to provide information on the present situation and the probable development of advertising, twinning and telesales techniques, the various media (TV, radio, cinema, Internet) and new platforms for mobile telephony. The study will include a legal and economic analysis and will broach in particular the advertising techniques of interactive and virtual advertising, the use of split screens and different forms of advertising on the Internet. It will be one of the contributions that the Commission will take into account during its re-examination of the TV with frontiers directive in 2002.
