Commission approves most of the aid for Babcock Wilcox Española SA

Brussels, 04/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided that the bulk of the substantial state aid (EUR 830 million in total) paid since the 1980s to Babcock Wilcox Española SA (BWE), an engineering and construction company in the capital goods sector and presently a 100% subsidiary of the Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales (SEPI) is compatible with the common market.

The first aid measures for BWE (EUR 60 million) go back to commitments entered before...
