25/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt took a stance on Sunday before the "European Forum" which met in Goettweig (near Vienna) for the direct election of the president of the European Commission. He stressed that the latter should focus on "major objectives" and not deal with the "everyday management" of programme details.
