EU concerned at dissolution of Virtue Party

Luxembourg, 25/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Swedish Presidency has made the following Declaration on behalf of the European Union: "The EU notes with concern the decision of the Turkish Constitutional Court on the 22 June to order the closure of the Virtue Party, to confiscate its assets and to ban certain members from being members of the Turkish Grand National Assembly or for further political activities for five years.
