Brussels, 14/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - The 7th European conference of Fourth World People's Universities will take place on 18 June in Brussels, in collaboration with the European Economic and Social Committee, on the theme "parents as the first partners of the children's future: an objective for an inclusive Europe".
The works will be opened by Goke Frerichs, President of the European Economic and Social Committee, Hermann van Breen, responsible for ATD Fourth World for the "the poorest, partners in Europe" project, Wieke Ytsman, Dutch delegate of the Fourth World People's Universities, and Gabrielle Clotuche, Director for social protection and social integration at the European Commission. The works will then unfold in ten workshops on the themes: 1) recognition and support for families to meet their aspirations; 2) staying together as a family; 3) develop place of freedom and creativity; 4) beating unemployment and job insecurity; 5) towards a holistic and coherent approach to living as a family; 6) developing partnerships for the right to live as a family; 7) the parents as partners: education; 8) guarantee families sufficient resources; 9) Living as a family: housing; 10) access to health for all. In the afternoon, the Swedish Minister Ingela Thalen (social security) and the Belgian Minister Frank Vandenbroucke (social affairs) will speak and the Secretary General of the International Movement ATD Fourth World Eugen Brand will conclude the session.
