Brussels, 15/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Junte of the region of Lombardia, chaired by Roberto Formigoni is meeting at the European Parliament in Brussels on 21 May - and that's a first - in the presence of Parliament President Nicole Fontaine and European Commission President Romano Prodi, to stress, as a press release points out, "the special significance that the European Union in busy assuming for all European regions".
On the initiative of the region of Lombardia, says the press release, on that occasion an exchange of views will be launched with the European Commission on the White Paper the latter is preparing on "governance" in Europe, with the participation of leaders of other regions that, with Lombardia, make up the group of the "Four Engines of Europe": Erwin Teufel, for Baden-Wurttemberg, Jordi Pujol, for Catalunya and Anne-Marie Comparini for Rhone-Alpes. In addition, in the context of "governance", "three representative actions of the joint priorities" of these four regions will be presented in Brussels on 21 May, actions involving other regions, including in candidate countries.
