THE DAY IN POLITICS / (eu) eu/federalists/future of europe

10/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, the Young European Federalists (JEF) encourage Chancellor Schroeder to "go ahead" with his proposals for a European federation, "despite the many oppositions and resistance he will encounter". These proposals "place a huge historic responsibility on all European countries", and "France has the greatest responsibility", JEF President, Paolo Vacca stresses, considering that the vision of a European federation sketched out by Gerhard Schroeder and, before him, Joschka Fischer and Johannes Rau, "is condemned to remain wishful thinking as long as France says no".
