Belgium's CROSS-LAZER has announced an agreement with the Italian firm AGV, alliance that will create the European leader in helmets with a turnover of 65 million euro in 2001 for market share (in motorbike helmets) of 15% in Europe. It will be number two worldwide, behind the Korean HJC. CROSS-LAZER, 60% subsidiary of ATENOR, manufactures and markets a range of helmets for motorbikes, bicycles and skiing and had a turnover of over 25 million euro in 2000, with 300 employees. For its part, AGV's turnover was over 35 million euro in 2000 with some 700,000 helmets manufactured and workforce of 400. INTENT, AGV shareholder will hold a some 50% stake in the new entity, ATENOR a little over 40%, and the Lacroix family (the other CROSS shareholder) some 10%.
