ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) medical material

The Swiss medical material group SULZER MEDICA has announced its acquisition of the American group INTRATHERAPEUTICS for USD 145 million in cash. Specialised in "stents" (spring-like implants used in vascular surgery to open up blocked arteries), INTRATHERAPEUTICS had turnvoer of USD 20 million in 2000 with a workforce of 150.
