Brussels, 04/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament's co-rapprteurs on the European Charter of Fundamental Rights, British Liberal Andrew Duff and Austrian Green Johnnes Voggenbuber have urged all members of the Convention, that draw up the Charter, to sign an appeal in favour of the immediate attribution of a binding nature on the Charter, which has to be proclaimed on 7 December in Nice. The appeal observes that a reference in Article 6 would be a minimum and regrets the attitude of several Member States which continue to oppose it. The appeal has already been signed by several Euro-MPs, as well as by Mr. Dehane, Mr. Rodota and Mr. Meyer.
