24/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Turk Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash said, according to Reuters, that talks on Cyprus under the auspices of the UN were a "waste of time", and that he could pull out, especially following the inclusion of Cyprus in EU consultations with third countries over possible Petersberg-type tasks (see EUROPE of 23 November, p.15).
