22/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - On the occasion of the signing of the Planning Document (Docup) of European Regional Policy (Objective 1) for Corsica from 2000 to 2006, Commissioner Barnier recalled that the Commission was preparing a summary and assessment paper on the island, in response to a memorandum by France, calling for Corsica's "specific" situation to be taken into account. It is neither a question of new negotiations or an amendment to the Docup, Commission sources explain, but of seeing how this "specific" situation could be taken into account in the framework of the Docup as adopted by the Commission.
