Brussels, 22/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - President of the French Republic Jacques Chirac, also President of the European Council, began, on Wednesday 22 November, his tour of EU capitals before the European Council of Nice with Brussels and Luxembourg. The Elysée pointed out that President Chirac would on this occasion seek to "make the search for agreement on the main points of the agenda move forward. These points are: social agenda, food safety, maritime safety, European defence and - of course - institutional reform".
Mr Chirac will be in Athens on 24 November (after the EU/Balkans summit, the same day in Zagreb), on 27/11 in Helsinki and Copenhagen, on 28/11 in Stockholm and Vienna, on 29/11 in Madrid, on 30/11 in Lisbon, Dublin and London, on 1 December in Rome and, on 2 December, in The Hague and Hanover.
