ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) brewing

The Danish brewer CARLSBERG acquired, for CHF 870 million, FELDSCHLOESSCHEN (turnover of CHF 1.06 billion in 1998/1999), the "drinks" subsidiary of the Swiss group FHH - FELDSCHLOESSCHEN-HUERLIMANN HOLDING, largest brewer in the country with a national market share of 45%. The activities bought by CARLSBERG employ 2,600 people on eight production sites and 27 distribution centres. CARLSBERG will inherit nine beer brands as well as soft drinks and mineral waters enabling it to increase its production by more than 55 million hectolitres. Following this decision, FHH will re-centre its activities in the real estate sector and rename its subsidiary HUERLIMANN IMMOBILIER HOLDIN existing in REG - REAL ESTATE GROUP (real estate portfolio including 213 buildings estimated at CHF 1.4 billion.
