ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) pharmaceuticals

The Belgian group OMEGA (consolidated sales of around EUR 175 million in 1999) offered BEF 6 billion for the Swedish-Dutch group AKZO NOBEL in view of the take-over of all the shares in its CHEFARO subsidiary (turnover of around EUR 90 million in 1999 with 278 collaborators), specialised in the marketing of OTC medicines (over the counter).
