EU calls on both communities to contribute to a settlement to the problem of Cyprus in the fifth round of indirect discussions in Geneva

Brussels, 02/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - On the occasion of the resumption, in Geneva, of indirect talks on Cyprus under the auspices of the UN, the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union published the following declaration on 31 October:

"The European Union considers the status quo in Cyprus to be unacceptable and supports the United Nations Secretary-General's efforts for a negotiated, comprehensive, just and lasting settlement consistent with the relevant UN Security...
