ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) banking

The Polish regional banks WBK - WIELKOPOLSKI BANK KREDYTOWY and BANK ZACHODNI, held by he Irish bank AIB - ALLIED IRISH BANK, have concluded a merger agreement to form one of the country's largest banks with assets of 21.2 bn zlotys. AIB will hold a 70% stake, whereas the remaining 30% will be floated on the Warsaw stock exchange.
