21/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Scientific Steering Committee of the Union felt in its new opinion that: a) the exports of veal on the bone from the United Kingdom are safe, b) the slaughter of whole herds is not necessarily more efficient than targeted slaughter for the eradication of BSE; c) the most recent research on the transmission of BSE between different animal species does not change it previous opinions. EUROPE will return to this.
