According to the Sunday Times, the American groups CHEVRON and PHILLIPS are considering merging. According to the weekly, this rapprochement will take the form of a bid by CHEVRON for PHILLIPS at $70 a share, valuing PHILLIPS at over £13 bn. The new group will have a total value of "some £55 bn".
