24/08/2000 (Agence Europe) - The 5th Conference of national ethics committees of countries members of the Council of Europe will be held at the Palais d'Europe in Strasbourg on 4 and 5 September, on: "Science, communication and societies". Members of national committees will try to focus on the inevitable questions raised by the new possibilities opened up by gene therapy, genetic testing, cloning and xeno-transplantation. They will seek new paths to respond to the fears of citizens and expectations of patients, in the perspective of better communication between the scientific world and society.
