Brussels, 24/08/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has cleared the creation of a joint-venture between the energy groups RWE (Germany) and Iberdrola (Spain). The new company will supply electricity at interconnected level to large industrial customers in Spain, electricity generated from a newly-constructed gas-fired power plant. The Commission considers that this operation raises no problems of competition given that it will only have negligible effects on the Spanish electricity market.
