Brussels, 20/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Internet Service Provider Association EuroISPA, reacted enthusiastically to the "package" of Directives, proposed by the European Commission, which adapts the legal framework of European telecommunications. Its President, Jean Christophe Le Toquin, announced "having always called for the Commission to do its utmost to reduce the Internet access costs and to maximise the connection speeds." He is satisfied, among others, with the Directive on the unbundling of local loops and even with the proposal to ban random nuisance e-mails. EuroISPA is joined by ECTA, the European Competitive Telecommunications Association, which underlines the importance in the Member States proceeding with the unbundling of access to local loops for 31 December 2000. In a press release, ECTA called that, five months before the deadline, be put in lace a monitoring system to check of the progress achieved.
