Brussels, 07/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - The first General Affairs Council to be held under French Presidency will take place on Monday in Brussels and will be chaired by Foreign Minister Hubert Védrine. This session will be largely centred on issues relating to external relations (see pages above) and will come to an end in the middle of the afternoon, when the ministers continue their work in the context of the IGC (see other article).
On Tuesday afternoon, Cooperation Councils on EU/Kyrgyzstan and EU/Kazakhstan will be held. They will be preceded by a joint breakfast during which the EU will be represented by the ministerial Troika. Other ministers may take part in formal sessions if they so wish, but without Member State identification. EUROPE has reason to believe that some delegations found this procedure irritating.
