According to the German daily Die Welt, DEUTSCHE TELEKOM is in advanced talks with its American rival SPRINT in view of total merger. The transaction will take the form of an exchange of shares. EUROPE recalls that the American and European authorities have just blocked the merger between SPRINT and WORLDCOM. See EUROPE of 29 June, p. 9).
