04/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - According to information gathered by "Le Figaro", the French judicial system has initiated an investigation into the satellite intelligence system "Echelon", set up by the United States. The investigation is aimed at establishing whether Echelon was engaged in illegal tapping having the nature of economic or industrial espionage.
