6th biennial "Europe, Travail, Emploi" (Lyon, 6-7 July)

Brussels, 23/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - "What regulations for a Europe of employment?" This is the theme of the 6th Biennial "Europe, Travail, Emploi", organised by the Ecole normale supérieure in Lyon on 6 and 7 July, with support from the European Commission. Participants will include Pierre Moscovici, French Minister for European Affairs, Emilio Gabaglio, Secretary General of the European Trade Union Confederation and MEP Giorgio Ruffolo.

The objective of this 6th biennial is to promote and strengthen European social debate, the challenges of which include: - integration of the three processes under way (Luxembourg, Cardiff and Cologne) into a European act for employment; - institutional reform, including writing fundamental rights into the Treaty; - the role of the social sphere (social dialogue and organisation of work). A concluding round table will be chaired by European Commissioner Michel Barnier, with the participation of the European social partners (ETUC, UNICE, CEEP).
