Brussels, 08/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - A public hearing on the "Future regulatory framework for electronic communications networks and services" will be held on the 10 and 11 May in Brussels. More than 600 people should take part. For Commissioner Erkki Liikanen, responsible for telecommunications, it is a matter of preparing the official presentation of five proposals for Directive creating a new telecommunications framework. The aim of the hearing is to gather the opinion of the parties concerned over the different aspects of this legislation. It covers the general regulatory framework, the authorisation of services, access and interconnectivity, universal service, as well as user rights and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector.
