SCOTTISH POWER is on the verge of setting up a joint-venture with the American high-tech group SAIC - SCIENCE APPLICATIONS INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION (1999 turnover of $4.7 bn), to offer e-business services. Called CALANAIS both firms will hold equal shares and it will employ 600 people.
